"Flying to the Moon and Chasing our Dreams" Lantern Festival at Tung Chung Promenade
2024.09.08 - 2024.09.22
To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with the public, the Sustainable Lantau Office under the Civil Engineering and Development Department will organize the "Flying to the Moon and Chasing our Dreams" Lantern Festival at Tung Chung Promenade this year at the Tung Chung East Promenade. This year's lighting decorations are themed on the wonderful journey of space exploration, including a 6-meter-tall rocket and space rabbit greeting the public at the central entrance. The promenade will also be decorated with special lanterns handmade by hundreds of children. The public can also enter the 12-meter-wide "Dreams Come True" immersive space to experience the space-like Mid-Autumn Festival imagery journey.
To echo the theme of the Lantern Festival, the Tung Chung Community Liaison Center next to the promenade has set up a "Space Exploration and Innovation Technology" exhibition at the same time to introduce China's aerospace development, Hong Kong's relevant participation and CEDD’s applications of innovative technology, allowing the public to understand aerospace and the development and application of innovative technologies, encouraging citizens to pursue their dreams and explore more possibilities. The Tung Chung Community Liaison Center will extend its opening hours during the Lantern Festival, and members of the public can visit freely without making an appointment. For details, please note the following information and opening hours.
On the Mid-Autumn Festival Day and the following holidays (September 17th and 18th), starting from 6 p.m. , a number of free activities will be held on the promenade, including creative digital photography, street magic performances, lantern riddle contests, stall games and snack distribution, to celebrate the festival with the public.
