To enhance communication with the public, the Sustainable Lantau Office (SLO) of the Civil Engineering and Development Department has set up the Tung Chung Community Liaison Centre (CLC) at 13 Tung Chung Waterfront Road, Tung Chung at the end of 2021. The CLC was constructed through renovation and modification of an unused site office. Its architectural design is in harmony with the adjoining Tung Chung East Promenade. Various themed exhibition areas were set up inside the CLC. Visitors can know more about the development projects and conservation works/initiatives of SLO as well as the nature, culture and history in Lantau, through various interactive exhibits and models. Apart from allowing the public to visit, the Atrium and a meeting room inside the CLC are open for non-Governmental organizations and schools to use free of charge, by reservation, for organizing activities/events, so as to share the space for public enjoyment. About 3,000 square feet of area at 11 Tung Chung Waterfront Road is used as the CLC Extension which has been opened in January 2023, with a themed exhibition area and an interactive drawing game area "Wonderful Lantau", to provide more spaces for different exhibitions and activities, with the theme of conservation and sustainable Lantau in particular.
