The Improvement Works at Tai O are being implemented in 3 phases with a view to enhancing the local infrastructure to address the most pressing needs of Tai O residents, enhancing traffic and pedestrian circulation and providing additional parking spaces at Tai O.
Scope of Works
Phase 1 works include:
- Construction of a riverwall at Yat Chung and the associated drainage and sewerage improvement works;
- Upgrading of the temple garden in front of Kwan Tai Temple; and
- Improvement to the signage within the inner-core area of Tai O.
Phase 2 Stage 1 works include:
- Construction of a public open space, a public transport terminus, a public car park for private cars, a loading and unloading area, a cycle parking area and associated roadworks at the western end of Tai O Road;
- Provision of on-street parking spaces for coaches and goods vehicles at Lung Shing Street in Yim Tin; and
- Landscaping and ancillary works.
Phase 2 Stage 2 works include:
- Construction of footbridges at Po Chue Tam and Yim Tin;
- Upgrading works of the open area in front of Yeung Hau Temple;
- Construction of an amphitheatre-cum-open space and a public car park at Yim Tin; and
- Ancillary works, including associated road, drainage, water mains, sewerage, utilities, landscaping and public lighting works, etc.
Phase 3 works include:
- Construction of a promenade and a garden at Shek Tsai Po;
- Construction of a footbridge to connect the proposed promenade and the existing Tai O public transport terminus;
- Improvement to the existing helipad;
- Provision of information and directional signage for inner loop heritage trail and outer loop nature trail;
- Improvement of existing roads and streetscape within the Tai O inner-core area; and
- Other supporting infrastructure including refuse collection point and upgrading/ extension of water reticulation system, etc.
